CA(SA) to lead global IFRS Interpretations Committee

Bruce has contributed immensely to the accounting profession throughout his career and notably to the standard-setting processes locally and globally. He previously served as a member of the IFRS Interpretations Committee before becoming a member of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) during 2020. Bruce will continue with his role as a member of the IASB while serving as chair of the IFRS Interpretations Committee.

The IFRS Interpretations Committee works closely with the IASB to support the consistent application of IFRS Accounting Standards by responding to application questions that arise in practice. It responds by publishing agenda decisions that often contain explanatory materials or by considering possible changes to the requirements. The IFRS Interpretations Committee comprises 14 experts from around the world.

South Africa was one of the first few countries globally to adopt IFRS and Bruce was instrumental in supporting and assisting companies locally and globally in navigating the application IFRS framework. With this exposure, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the IFRS Interpretations Committee to enable him to steer the Committee in the right direction.

SAICA is appreciative of the support that Bruce he continues to provide as an active SAICA member.
