Zakariya Hoosain

Zakariya has held various roles in the private and public sector which include internal audit client manager at Transnet where he looked after the port operations, consultant at PwC, partner at Mazars where he launched the governance, risk and internal audit service line and managed the public sector audits. He joined the Western Cape Treasury in 2012 overseeing the Accountant-General, SCM and Systems functions. He was promoted to Western Cape Head of Treasury in 2015 where he was responsible for a provincial budget exceeding R65bn and oversight of Western Cape municipalities. Together with his team, he drove the successful operation clean audit strategy for the province. He has served on several audit committees over the years and is an active and passionate member of SAICA public sector since 2007.

He is currently the Chief Audit Executive at the City of Cape Town and the SAICA National Council public sector representative.
