Jarryd Prince CA(SA), 35

Chief Commercial Officer – Federal Airlines | SAICA Mentor & Assessor

Finalist: Transformative Leader | SAICA Top-35-Under-35 Awards 2025

Jarryd Prince is a purpose-driven Chartered Accountant whose career spans finance, aviation, social development, and mentorship. At 35, he serves as Chief Commercial Officer at Federal Airlines, a luxury shuttle and charter airline operating from OR Tambo to game lodges across South Africa. In this role, Jarryd leads commercial strategy, revenue optimization, and guest experience — blending financial acumen with operational excellence.

Jarryd joined Federal Airlines in early 2024 as CFO, but his commercial instincts quickly saw him transition into a strategic leadership role. He now oversees multiple teams across charter, shuttle, marketing, and analytics — driving shareholder value while delivering seamless luxury experiences. His leadership style is hands-on, people-centred, and grounded in resilience, often “stepping up” when challenges arise.

Before aviation, Jarryd made a profound impact in public finance. As Financial Manager and Acting Head of Finance at the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), he led the consolidation of over 30 subsidiaries and 100 associates — delivering unqualified group financial statements in line with PFMA, JSE, and IFRS requirements. At just 32, he took charge during a leadership gap, mobilizing resources and delivering under pressure.

Jarryd’s next chapter at IDC was even more impactful. As Senior Account Manager for the Social Employment Fund (SEF) — a R2.4 billion government initiative — he assessed, advocated for, and secured funding for 12 strategic implementing partners. These partners created over 30,000 work opportunities in areas like early childhood development, gender-based violence, and food security. Jarryd’s work was “purpose” in action, improving lives and communities across South Africa.

His commitment to transformation extends to the profession itself. Jarryd served as SAICA Training Officer at IDC from 2021 to 2024, helping reshape the training environment to better support candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds. He sat on SAICA’s Training Regulations and APC Working Groups, and volunteered as a mentor in SAICA’s mentorship programme for three consecutive years. He also lectured part-time and marked exam scripts — staying close to academia and the next generation of CAs.

Jarryd’s leadership is deeply personal. He’s a husband to a fellow CA(SA) and a father of two. His days often shift from boardroom strategy to bedtime stories — a balance he embraces with pride. His journey is one of grit, grace, and generosity, paving a smoother path for those who come after.

Whether leading commercial strategy, mentoring future leaders, or advocating for social impact, Jarryd Prince exemplifies the spirit of a Transformative Leader. His legacy is one of inclusion, excellence, and empowerment — ensuring that every quiet voice finds its path, and every underserved dream has a chance to soar.
