Penalties for late submission of individual tax returns

Several SAICA members noted that some of their clients who are registered as provisional taxpayers, are receiving penalty assessments on submission and assessment of their ITR12 income tax returns – seemingly on the basis that the returns were submitted late, even though the deadline for provisional taxpayers is only on 31 January 2022.
